This morning, about 7:30 a.m., an East Greenbush man had just gotten home when he found two strangers in his garage. They allegedly had some tools gathered in a sack so they could take them. The homeowner tried to stop them but they pushed past him and ran down the street.

He immediately called the East Greenbush Police and gave them a description of the two suspects. It didn’t take long to find the them. The police spotted them two blocks away and took them into custody.

One of the officers suffered a broken nose after one of the suspects, 19-year-old Joseph W. White from East Greenbush, allegedly slammed his head into the officer’s nose. White, along with the other suspect, 19-year-old Michael R. Palmer, also from East Greenbush, were charged with burglary. White was also charged with Assault in the second degree. Both men were sent to the Rensselaer County Jail.

According to the press release from the East Greenbush Police Department, they are investigating more reports of thefts from parked cars this morning, in the Clinton Park neighborhood. There’s no word on whether the suspects were involved with the parked car thefts.
