Local High School Student Display of Patriotism Goes Viral [VIDEO]

Doing the Capital Region and America proud, Mechaniciville High School student and Red Raider Football player, Daniel Hayner raised the American flag proudly during the National Anthem when he realized it was missing.

The action took place Friday night at Catholic High. Hayner said to WTEN, “All the stuff that’s happening now with the flag and stuff so I didn’t know if it was like that or where it was."

Before everyone gets upset with Catholic High, they were quick to let everyone know they had just finished construction on their press box and simply forgot to replace the flag prior to the game. They have promised this will never happen again.

A beautiful act of spontaneity caught on camera has put this young man in the forefront for something so positive in a time where we seem to be questioning things on a daily basis. Bravo, Daniel! Job well done!
