When I read the story of a local dad who climbed all 46 peaks of the Adirondacks with his two young sons, I was blown away.

I recently wrote about how my 3-year-old son Brody is obsessed with dinosaurs and how we'll go on dino-hunts in just about any park we find. It's a way to get a little fresh air and keep the mind active, not always an easy thing to do considering how busy most people are these days. I thought I was doing a pretty darn good job trying to keep life fresh and fun with my boy.

And then I saw this....

Newschannel 13 had the story of Mat Garrand of Ballston Lake who accomplished this incredible feat with his two sons Brandon age 12 and Logan age 10. It told almost 3 years to climb all 46 peaks of the Adirondacks and according to the story, they encountered some bears, some nearly impossible scales, and some trying times. They pushed each other, rooted one another on and just last month completed this impressive task.

It takes a lot of time, energy, focus, passion and commitment to accomplish such a task, and one that made me want to stand up and applaud this great father.

This wasn't a computer simulation. It wasn't a video game. It was wasn't a Pixar movie.

Just a dad and his two boys making some time for one another.
