I love NBC's "The Biggest Loser."

The life changing transformations that these contestants go through in such a short time are nothing short of amazing. The show is filled with such amazing emotions: sadness, happiness, frustration, exultation to name just a few.

You watch these people's journeys, get to know them, cheer for them and the result is a remarkable pride you feel for these people who were strangers to you when it began.

This season, however, one of the contestants is NOT a total stranger. This season, dubbed "Second Chances," features a local contestant from right here in our own backyard!

Tumi Oguntala is a brand strategist from Clifton Park. She is 41 years old and has plans to marry her fiance after the show and start a family. According to her bio information on "The Biggest Loser" website, Tumi, who was born in Arizona lost her mother to cancer when she was 14 years old. She says the experience “made me scared to start a family because of the fear that I, too, would leave young children behind. Achieving a healthy weight will go a long way towards giving me confidence that I can be here for my loved ones in the future.”

As the show begins, she is 319 pounds and suffers from high cholesterol.

You will have a chance to "meet" Tumi as we begin what I hope is a long journey of support from her hometown,  tomorrow morning (Tuesday) on the "Sean and Richie Show" at 7:30 am. The season will then start Tuesday night at 8 p.m. on NBC.

Here she is in a video with another contestant, Rachel, talking about their upcoming journey:

I really do think it is exciting to have someone on this show right from our area to cheer for and I hope you will be with me in supporting Tumi throughout this amazing experience and beyond!
