It's hard to imagine that the man behind the hits 'Brick House' 'Easy' and 'Sail On,' would ever climb the Country charts, let alone debut at No. 1 in the genre.

After leading the Commodores up the pop and rock charts with those classics, Lionel Richie became a Rhythm and Blues Adult Contemporary music staple in the early '80s.  Thanks to hits like 'Endless Love' with Diana Ross, 'All Night Long' and 'Hello.' Now, the new album 'Tuskegee,' featuring covers of his classics with country artists has debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Country albums chart. The album also debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 All-Genre chart, just behind Madonna's 'MDNA' album.

Although he's actually had a two records cross over onto the Country Music charts, Lionel Richie has recently been welcomed to Country Music with open arms.  Thanks to a duets album loaded with Country superstars, an appearance on both the CMA and ACM awards show, and a 'Country' television special on CBS, Lionel Richie has been shown that he is much appreciated by the Country Music community.
