Make it three in a row for Lauren Alaina and her new single ‘Eighteen Inches.’ After another day of heavy voting online and via the telephone on Taste of Country Nights radio, the song narrowly ousted Jana Kramer‘s hit ‘Why Ya Wanna.’ Now it’s up to fans of the Carrie Underwood co-written ballad to step up once again, if they want to best a man that’s been turning out hits for over a decade.

Chris Cagle‘s new song ‘Let There Be Cowgirls’ is a tongue-in-cheek addition to the story of creation. It’s another song that blesses female country fans, performed with the same rock n’ roll attitude of Cagle’s most recent Top 20 hit, ‘Got My Country On.’ The song is the second single from Cagle’s new ‘Back in the Saddle’ album.

Listen to clips of both Alaina’s and Cagle’s songs and vote for your favorite here. You can vote once every hour online, so come back and vote often to be sure your artist wins. Hear the full versions of the songs tonight after 10PM on Taste of Country Nights, and vote again by calling (888) 678-9995. You can listen to the show online through any of the 33 radio stations that carry it. Voting will end tonight at 10:40PM CT.

Showdown Rules: The song with the most votes wins, and the winner goes on to face a new challenger in the next Showdown. Vote as much as once per hour. If a song wins five days in a row, it will be retired into the Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame to allow for new songs to compete. Some songs will be considered for a second Showdown if voter turnout is healthy in a losing effort.
