I know plenty of people that have looked into or that have gone and had solar panels installed on their roofs. Though, to be honest within that "plenty" of people not many of them were all that thrilled with the results. So, is it a big surprise that U.S. Light Energy based out of Latham filed for a Chapter 7 liquidation plan because the original plan to sell the business, well, it didn't work. Oops.

With this news, what caused the company to have problems in the first place? Turns out a problematic financing deal through the solar panel maker, Kyocera according to a managing member of the U.S. Light Energy Firm.

The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May of 2015 which is typically utilized to help save suffering businesses however in this case it didn't work out in their favor.

U.S. Light Energy is the second local solar installation company to have some problems lately. The other, PosiGen based out of New Orleans recently laid off 23 of its employees and scaled back its efforts within New York state.

So tell me, have you installed solar panels to your home? Have you seen any benefits to having them?
