It looks like after all these years of empty stores the Latham Circle Mall could finally become a place to shop again.

According to an article in the Times Union, developers from Boston proposed a plan to the Latham planning board to turn the mall into an open air shopping center much like Latham Farms and Mohawk Commons.

The Lowes, JCPenny and movie theatre will stay while the rest of the Mall will be demolished for some brand new stores. The Developers are hoping to put a number of shops along with a grocery store and some restaurants into the area.

There has been talk for some time that the popular grocery chain Wegman's could pop up in this area and this would be a great place to put it.

As many folks know, the GNA studios used to be in the Latham Circle Mall, we haven't been there since our move in 2005 and even back then the place was going downhill. When I first started I could have a few places to choose from if i worked late and needed to get a bite to eat at the food court or at the McDonalds. Before we moved I don't think there were any places left in the food court. I am glad to see that something is finally going to be done to the mall, it is in such a prime location for it to go to waste.

I found this video on You Tube that was shot earlier this year and you can see what has become of the Mall.
