Jim Boeheim, Syracuse University’s Men Basketball Head coach was honored at the Capitol this week for his 1,000th win!

I know there are a lot of Syracuse fans here in the Capital Region.  I remember when I was young, my friends would go to see games at the Carrier Dome.  Even now my friends are taking their kids to games to watch the Orange!

Boeheim scored his 1,000th win last Saturday night against Virginia prompting Senator John DeFrancisco, the Senate's deputy majority leader, to sponsor a resolution honoring him for the achievement.

The resolution points out that Boeheim, in his 41st season, is a dedicated mentor and coach who has led the Syracuse University Men's Basketball Team to an NCAA Championship win over Kansas in 2003 and 32 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Some people are quick to point out that Boeheim really has only won 899, reminding us of the NCAA's decision to take away 101 team wins.

I, as I think many others do too, congratulate Coach Boeheim on his achievement!

Congrats, Coach!  Well done!
