Jeff Gordon Takes Martinsville, Two Way Tie For The Cup With Three Races Remaining!

An Amazing race today at Martinsville Speedway!  I'm sure that Jeff Gordon fans are ecstatic that Jeff got his first win of the season and has secured himself in the third place position for the race for the Nascar Sprint Cup Championship.

Jeff Gordon who had a good car through most of the race said that early on and midway through the race, he and his team were just concentrating on doing well on the short runs but it was in the end a long run of no cautions that seemed to be the key to his win. While Matt Kenseth led the most laps in the race and seemed to have a pretty good hold on the race at the end, it was as Matt said, "Experience" that helped Jeff get that final pass with only a few laps remaining.

Kenseth said post race that going into it that he knew that "Jimmie, (Johnson), Jeff and Denny (Hamlin) had the history and experience on this track". He was right with this win both Jeff Gordon and teammate Jimmie Johnson have each won 8 times at this track!

As a Jimmie Johnson fan, I was thrilled when Jeff made the pass to secure the win because by doing it, he knocked the 20 car back to second place and left Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kenseth in a deadlock of points as we head to the final three races of the season. I don't care who you are, or who you root for you have to love a chase race that is so very close. I can't wait to see how this all turns out over the last few races and I just hope that something dumb like an engine blowing or a senseless crash doesn't take one of the contenders out of it.
