For the second week in a row, Jeff Gordon has set fast time in qualifying - this time at one of NASCAR's fastest tracks - Michigan International Speedway.

A week ago NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series drivers were here in New York at the winding Watkins Glen road course and Jeff Gordon had one of the fastest cars - leading the early laps after setting fast time and starting on the pole. This week Gordon was the fastest driver again.

In qualifying on Friday for Sunday's Pure Michigan 400, Gordon broke the track record and took the pole starting position with a speed of 206.857 mph. Gordon was also the fastest in Saturday's final practice session. Joey Logano qualified second, followed by Carl Edwards, Brian Vickers and Brad Keselowski. Here is the complete starting lineup.

In local racing action Friday night, Kenny Tremont beat Brett Hearn by a nose to win the modified feature at the Albany Saratoga Speedway. Mark Kislowski, Marc Johnson and Peter Britten completed the top five. Bernie Companion won the Pro Stock feature for the second week in a row and Jeremy Pitts picked up the win in the Sportsman feature.
