If you are getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July with your own stash of fireworks, you should know if you are breaking the law by setting them off.

I have always been one to leave the fireworks to the pros, but if setting of your own is your thing you should know if they are legal or not where you live. According to News 10 it is legal in most of the state to set off small fireworks, except for 2 Capital Region counties: Schenectady and Albany Counties. If you are reading this in Massachusetts, fireworks are illegal throughout your state.

Now if you live in Albany or Schenectady Counties, you can still get your fill of fireworks at some great 4th of July celebrations in the area including the annual fireworks show at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.

If they are legal in your county, remember to set them off safely and enjoy your 4th of July! Happy Birthday America!
