County Waste has partnered with us to honor those in our communities who are truly making a difference. This month we salute Gloversville soldier, Brandon Hermance.

When the GNA morning show called Brandon Hermance from Gloversville to inform him that he was September's Hometown Hero, we received a polite "thank you" for his response. When we pressed him further about his two honorable tours in Iraq, once again he remained relatively quiet. In talking to him about his job as a paramedic, again, Brandon was reserved. It was clear to us that Brandon, like many heroes in our community, is slightly uncomfortable with praise and recognition because, in their words, they're just "doing their job." Humble, quiet, and honorable; that's Brandon Hermance.
