Some of the greatest artistic works in the history took literally years to complete.   And there are some that took a little bit less.  Like 15 minutes.  I have a case in point.  Ready?  Play ball!

It's a classic for sure.  It's "Take Me Out To The Ballgame", words by Jack Norworth, music by Albert Von Tilzer, and according to the Performing Arts Encyclopedia

It has been ranked in survey polls as one of the top ten songs of the twentieth century and is second only to "Happy Birthday" and "The Star Spangled Banner" as the most easily recognized songs in America.

Supposedly, "Jack Norworth scribbed the words on an envelope after seeing a sign on a subway that read "Baseball Today --Polo Grounds"   And I guess the scrap of paper is in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. I am going to search that out tomorrow and hopefully get to include it in this blog .   You can read the whole story from the link above.  Very interesting.

And this got me to thinking.  It's such a powerful piece of music in that it motivates people to actually try to learn it on a piano.  In case you've been struggling, I've decided to give you a free quickie piano lesson.
