How to Make Your Home Safe for Older Pets

This week, Dr. Patrick joined us again to talk about making changes to your home as your pets age to make sure they live the happiest and healthiest life possible.

When your pet gets older, it's important to make sure your home changes a little to give them the best life. Pets lose mobility as they age, so remember to make changes to your home that gives your pets access to everything they would normally have while remaining comfortable and safe.

• Make sure that you have bedding with enough padding to ensure your pet can lay comfortably as they get older.
• If your pet is used to sleeping on the bed with you, make sure they have a ramp or set of stairs that can help them get on and off the bed safely without having to jump.
• Likewise, make sure that if you are taking your pet in the car, they have a ramp to help them get in and out of the vehicle safely so they don't injure themselves.
