I definitely have some opinions about Colbert's debut, but I'd like to hear yours of course.  I'll throw my two cents in first and then see how you fare

OK, maybe I should withhold judgement here because it might color your response, but here we go.

1.  Even if he tells a bad joke, Colbert gets a pass because you absolutely can't dislike him as far as I'm concerned.  Very harmless and lovable.

2.  When I watch him I STILL think of him as the CHARACTER Colbert.  I don't know how he will be able to shake that, but then again that's not a bad thing either.

3. I think his first show was a little rough around the edges, but that also is to be expected.

4. I respect him MORE by coming right out and paying homage to "Dave", and also putting Jimmy Fallon on. I'm sure he had many consultants telling him that mentioning the competition is a bad idea.  I think it shows that he's realistic about who's across the street - that people are going to go back and forth and sample different things, and that he's not concerned about that.   Ok - I'm done.

Let me know in a short sentence what you think of him and the show. Would love to know
