I know there is a lot of hype about "Black Friday" and holiday shopping, you will get it from all angles this week. Many of you will scour the flyers and on line advertisements of some of your favorite stores and try to get a game plan up for shopping while you are enjoying that after dinner pie on Thanksgiving. Fortunately I found a really good article at Wallethub.com where they did all the research for us.

Most of the stores have released their ads and these guys crunched all the numbers and found out that on average you should save almost 40% on your holiday shopping this year. Overall some of the stores showed much higher savings than others for instance, of the stores looked at JC Penney came in with the best savings at 65.44% and the lowest was Costco at 21.14. Now, I don't know if lower original prices had anything to do with how much things were discounted at each store but it at least is a place to start when narrowing down your choices.

The Top 5 for savings were in order, JC Penney, Macy's , Rite Aid, Meijer and Sears.

The Bottom 5 for savings were Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Amazon, Big Lots, and as I stated before, Costco came in last.

You should also keep in mind that different stores did better in different categories, for instance, if you are looking to buy clothes Sears had the biggest discounts, but if computers is what you desire you may want to try Office Depot and Office Max. If you want toys or furniture it's gonna be Kohls, appliances will be JC Penney and for consumer electronics Macy's is will you will find the biggest discounts.

Good Luck and SAVE BIG!!
