Three people died in Sunday night's I-88 wrong way crash.  45-year-old Timothy Batchler of Schenectady and hiis 44-year-old wife Stephanie both died at the scene.  Their 3 children are currently at Albany Medical Center recovering from their injuries.

The family, including 19 year old Jack Batchler and 11 year old twins Chloe and Abby was traveling on eastbound on I-88 when a wrong way car driven by 28 year old Stephen Cipriano, of Rotterdam hit them head on.  Stephen died this morning from his injuries.

According to TWC, police say the driver who crossed the median, Stephen Cipriano, pleaded guilty to a DWI in Rotterdam back in 2015.

His driver's license was suspended for six months and an ignition interlock was installed on his car. But, police have not confirmed whether or not alcohol was a factor in Sunday night's crash.

The surviving twins, Abby and Chloe, are currently sixth-graders there in the Shalmont school district.  Schalmont has set up extra counselors and crisis staff are in place for classmates of the girls.
