Help Me, It’s My First Time!
I’m 28 years old and finally all of the puzzle pieces fit and the time it right. After much consideration I’ve come to the realization that it’s time to become an adult.
I just closed on my very first house today and overwhelmed may be an understatement. I signed so many papers that I started second guessing how to spell my name, but after a long process, it’s done and I’m a homeowner.
I bought myself a two family house with a tenant that has lived there for a few years already and I plan on moving in upstairs within the month. So, not only am I a first-time homeowner but I’m a first-time landlord too. Am I crazy? Probably.
I figured it was a good decision financially. I have an income but also built equity but don’t have to take on all of the responsibility for paying for the house on my own which is a brilliant idea.
There are so many people in the world that own houses and those of you who have been through this before, I’m calling on you. I need your help! If you had one piece of advice you wish someone gave you at your house closing, what is it? What are the things I should know but probably don’t?
