It seems logical that if kids wear helmets on their bicycles, then they should definitely wear them when they are skiing or snowboarding. I thought it already was a law, but apparently it wasn't. Now legislation is moving forward for this to become a law. In an effort to reduce the potential for serious head injuries on the slopes, the state Senate has passed legislation that would require children under fourteen to wear a helmet while skiing or snowboarding in New York state.

A measure passed on Monday that would require ski slopes to post signs and information letting customers know that helmets are required for kids fourteen and under and that they are available for rent or purchase.

To me this seems logical. I always thought this was a law in New York state. I don't think anyone would be mad at this requirement. It will just keep our children and others on the slopes safer.

The bill will now have to pass the state Assembly to become a law.
