Dear Facebook Friends and WGNA listeners,

I've gone back and forth on how to structure this post. Do I attempt to make it funny? Should I "rhyme it?" Naaaaa...

Let's just cut to the chase. I have made a life-changing decision that I want to share with you. I have decided to leave the morning show after an incredible and fulfilling 27 years. I can't even believe it's been that long, so I can't expect you to either.

We as a morning show thought you deserved to know rather than have someone disappear mysteriously.

I'm every excited for what's to come, and no, I don't mean sitting on my porch telling kids to get off my lawn, or meeting the other retired guys at the coffee shop to complain about politics. In fact "retired" is not in my vocabulary, let's put it that way. I have several projects that I've always wanted to pursue but was never awake enough to do them.

Who knows – you may see me on "Shark Tank" (OK – that's a stretch)!

Whether I really know you or only know personally you through Facebook or the radio, I oddly feel a connection to you regardless.

I sincerely hope that I've entertained you in some way, shape or form on the air, and hopefully I will get a chance to do it again in some other way.

Sean—we go back 17 years on the air together. We've enjoyed incredible success (thanks to you, the listeners, of course).

I know this is going to be an odd transition for both of us, but God knows you stared at my face long enough. Now you can stare at Bethany's, and that face is a much more pleasant alternative. And to Bethany, you are a fantastic addition to the show and I feel really great knowing that the program is in "good hands." Seriously you know I'm gonna miss you both. Onward and upward!

And with that I will end this. Sorry for blabbing here.

Thanks for your loyalty over these many many years.

With love,

Rhymin Richie (minus the rhyming for once)
