Hate Mail Sent And Angry Calls Made To Albany County Sheriff

Last week, there was a herd of bison running over some Albany area roads, and sadly, they were all shot and killed.

Because of his decision to have the animals put down, Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple has been on list of not being some people’s favorite person. Since he made the decision, Sheriff Apple has been receiving several phone calls from people who are mad about his decision. He has also gotten hate mail about his decision. Sheriff Apple is not backing down, and is standing by the actions of the sheriff’s department, as a decision of public safety. Sheriff Apple has also had  some favorable support about his decision from some Albany area veterinarians.

According to the story from CBS 6 Albany, this incident has led to something positive. Sheriff Apple will be looking into getting training for his officers if they’re ever in any situations involving animals. That way, they could be able to take care of the animals that may need to be put down. He also mentioned that he didn’t think that the hunters that were hired to kill the bison did it in the most humane way.
