Blake Shelton has played at past GNA Countryfests, and Monday, June 18 is his birthday. Blake was born Ada, Oklahoma. He started singing when he was very young, and learned to play the guitar when he was 12 years old. He received the Denbo Diamond Award, which is a prestigious statewide award for young Oklahoma entertainers.

In 1994, two weeks after he graduated from high school, Blake packed up and moved to Nashville to pursue a singing career. After a few years of hard work, Blake finally got discovered, and was signed to Giant Records, in 1998. He was signed to the record deal, but things didn't really start to take off for Blake until 2001. That's when his first single, 'Austin', went to number one on the Billboard Hot Country Charts, and remained there for five weeks. It was in 2001 that Blake Shelton was transferred to Warner Brothers Records.

Of course, Blake’s career is still going strong, and just adding to his adding to his celebrity by being a coach on the NBC tv reality talent show 'The Voice’. So let’s wish GNA Countryfest alumni Blake Shelton a very happy birthday. Here's his debut single, 'Austin'.
