Halloween’s Highway Was Route 666

There really was a Route 666. I would feel weird about driving on it any day, but I would have never thought about traveling it on Halloween!

It was a spur of the legendary East to West Route 66 that was the subject of movies, and old time rock and roll songs. The original Route 666 ran for 141 miles total from Kansas to Colorado. I think it is a shame that people let their superstitions rule their logic in this case. In 2003 they renamed Route 666 to Route 491.  

There is still a County Route 666 in Cumberland County New Jersey if you want to plan a "spooktacular" road trip some day in the future.
