What would you be willing to do to win 2019 season passes to the Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom? While some of their thrill rides have certainly tested our mettle over the years, their latest hair raising adventure doesn't involve high speeds and deep drops.  It involves a live hissing cockroach and a stomach of pure steel.

The thrill park in Queensbury has announced a promotion and it is not for the feint of heart. According to News Channel 13, the Great Escape will offer 2019 season passes to the individual who can eat a live, hissing, Madagascar cockroach in the fastest time.

The contest will be held October 6-8 as part of "Fright Fest."

I can personally tell you, that I have witnessed a similar stunt many years ago.  You remember the show Fear Factor?  During the height of it's popularity (late 90's- early 2000's) it was a ratings bonanza. Teams of people faced a series of wild stunts and horrifying food challenges to win cash prizes.  A morning show that I previously was on, snagged one of these gross critters and had a listener eat one during a happy hour stunt.  These Madagascar roaches are freaking HUGE, and they do hiss, and the thought of it makes my skin crawl.

The man who won the prize (I can't even remember what he was vying for) bit the suckers head right off and gobbled it down like it was nothing.  He was celebrated by the many in attendance for being the true champion he was while I did everything I could to not lose my cookies.

Bon apetit.
