As colleges across the state prepare to kick off the fall semester, state agencies will be cracking down on underage drinking.

Governor Cuomo has announced the focus will be on college campuses and towns. The agencies that will be ramping up efforts to curb underage use of alcohol the New York State Liquor Authority, New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and local law enforcement. The efforts will kick into high gear as fall classes begin.

The focus will be on any establishment that sells alcohol. So bars, restaurants and more will be watched for fake ideas and alcohol sales to anyone under 21. According to a press release from the Governor, in a similar crackdown last Spring 200 businesses were cited for selling alcohol to a minor and 48 minors were arrested trying to purchase booze with a fake ID.

So, if you are heading back to school this fall, maybe think twice before using that fake ID. If you are caught your license can be revoked for 90 days to 1 year!
