When GNA moved into our present location at 1241 Kings Road in the Pine Bush, there were some strange things that happened. While I was on the air, mostly at night, every now and then, for a few days in a row, our computers would start or stop playing a song on the air, or would move something in the line up just before I went to play it. I figured that it was a technical glitch.

On other nights, I would smell cigarette smoke in the studio when I was the only one in the building, and I don’t smoke. I came to the conclusion that we had some ghosts visiting us.

Another time, one of my co-workers was in the studio with me when he heard a knock at the door. He opened it to find that there was no one there. I told him that it was the ghost. Another co-worker was standing next to me behind the control board. As I turned to talk to him, he had a strange look on his face and asked me if I had moved a control know on the one piece of equipment. (I wasn’t really that close to it) I told him that I did not. He said that the control knob moved. I just smiled and told him that it was the ghost. He slowly moved away from the equipment.

It became a common occurrence in some of the studios for our sister stations down the hall. One night, I walked into the Q-103 studio, and the track lights were flickering so fast that they looked like strobe lights. That would happen for about minute intervals. After a few weeks the lights never did it again. They stopped flickering on their own. Some of the strange things with the computers happened in some of the other studios, too.

Now here’s what really got me thinking about all of this paranormal activity - As I was leaving the station and driving home, I saw some deer and thought I could get a picture or two of them. When I looked at the picture, I saw these little round white circles. They were in all of the pictures.

Another night, there was a power outage and I took a picture of the traffic light on East Old State Road and Route 155. As you can see in the picture, there were the circles.

After this, I stopped and took more pictures of the area and saw many more of these circles that you couldn't see with the naked eye. A friend of mine said they were orbs. They could have been the spirits of people or even animals.

This led me to do some research. Down the road from the station, on Kings Road, there’s are historical signs for the Truax Burial grounds and Truax Tavern. After I did an online search, I found some information that I believe was written by one of the relatives of the Truax family. According to the Rootsweb website, much of the area had a not so nice reputation, which included the Truax Tavern. During The days of the American Revolution, the area was known for fur smugglers. Isaac Truax was the owner of the tavern. This tavern was known to allegedly have some of its guests murdered and robbed in the night. Many of the bodies were never found. Also according to the story, the site of the tavern was excavated and what was found? Several skeletons of humans. There was also some similar information about our area on the Albanyhistory website. I believe that some of those poor souls would visit GNA and the surround ares.

One little strange fact is that when I went to the Truax sites to take pictures, there were no orbs in the pictures.
