Award winning actor, musician and humanitarian Gary Sinise is playing in Albany tonight to help raise money to build a "smart home" for one of own own local war heroes.

The show tonight features Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band in concert at the Washington Street Armory in Albany.  Proceeds from tonight's show will help benefit former Air Force Tech Sgt. Joseph Wilkinson and his family.  Wilkinson, 33, suffers from a degenerative nerve condition that has left him partially paralyzed.  His chronic condition is believed to have been caused by toxic chemicals in Iraq.  The performance is a joint effort between the Gary Sinise Foundation and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

The Wilkinson family resides in Nassau.

And by the way in case you were wondering who Lt. Dan is,  Lieutenant Dan Taylor was the character that Sinise played in the movie "Forrest Gump."
