One of the most influential country stars of the 1990's hits a milestone today. Troyal Brooks is 50 years old today. You know him better as Garth.

Born February 7, 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Garth Brooks is the second best selling artist of all time behind the King, Elvis Presley.  He 'has recieved numerous awards including   2 Grammys, 16 American Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, 18 Academy of Country Music Awards, 10 People's Choice Awards and 24 Billboard Music Awards.

He did so much in a little amount of time and in 2001 announced his retirement from performing and recording to be with his family. Although, he did do some select concerts and released a few hits packages during that time. He is currently out of retirement and is doing select shows at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. He said he would go back full swing when his youngest daughter turned 18. We should expect some sort of announcement in 2015, lets hope!!

I would have to say, if it weren't for Garth Brooks I probably wouldn't be the country music fan I am today. I grew up with country music in my house and my first ever concert was seeing Alabama, but as I was getting older I rebeled and listened to alot of Hard Rock music. Then Garth came along and that all changed. I loved "Friends In Low Places" the first time I heard it and became a huge fan when his first NBC special aired. He was a country guy doing a Rock style show, I was hooked! My only regret is never seeing him in concert, hopefully in a few years that will change and he will hit the road again.  A Happy Big 5-0 Garth from one of your biggest fans!

I have so many favorite Garth tunes but I would have to consider this my all time favorite," The Dance"

There is a place in my heart for this song as well seeing that I am also a huge fan of Garth's wife Trisha Yearwood. "In Another's Eyes'
