2000- Chad Brock goes to No. 1 with ‘Yes,’ the story of how he proposed to his girlfriend.

1988- Garth Brooks signs with Capitol Records.  Ironcially, the same label that gave his mother, Colleen Carroll, a record deal in the ’50s.

1978- Emmylou Harris is at the top with Delbert McClinton’s ‘Two More Bottles Of Wine.’

David ‘Stringbean’ Akeman, 1916. Popular Comedian on the Grand Ole Opry and Hee Haw.  Murdered in 1973.
