Franze’s Market Owner Busted For Welfare Fraud

There are many ways the welfare system gets abused. One is by people who take the benefits that they are really and legally not entitled to by falsifying information and finances on their applications for services.

The other is the side of the businesses that accept the benefits. In this case the business side of the equation was doing something really sleazy.

Robert Castro who owns Franze's Market is looking at 6 years in the slammer and he will forfeit $124,000 seized from his store as punishment for his crimes. He was taking the Electronic Benefit Cards from welfare recipients who would sell them to him for cash.
