Today on the show we began to talk about the new "Arthur".  This is a new movie version of the 1981 classic  "Arthur" starring Dudley Moore.  I don't know how many of you remember the first movie. Maybe enough time has gone by that most people going to the movies have not seen the original.  But I do know if you have, you simply can't expect to enjoy this new one.

I think there are some movies that are story or character driven. These are fair game as far as I'm concerned.  Even "Karate Kid" was kind of OK with me, as it wasn't as much an actor driven movie experience."Arthur", on the other hand was.  I just can't see anyone else doing that role, and that's not even mentioning the performance of John Geilgud as "Hopson".

I guess I'm a bit of a movie original snob in a way. I really don't think any movies should be remade while the original generation that first loved it can still see the new one.  Yet, I can understand at times it can be OK.

Like, I could see "Breakfast Club" being re made, but I cant ever see a new "Forrest Gump".  I can see them remaking "Total Recall" which I hear they are doing.  Bot I can't see ever watching a remake of "Rocky".

These are just a couple that I could think of on both sides of the fence.  I'm sure you can come up with your own. And let me be clear, I'm not saying the new "Arthur" is bad, I haven't even seen it, just saying its hard for me to wrap my head around anyone but Dudley Moore in that role.

God Bless.
