The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a flood watch for Hamilton, Montgomery, Fulton,  Herkimer, Northern Warren, and Northern Washington counties from tonight through Monday morning.  Two to three inches of rain will fall and combined with the increasing snow melt and runoff will be sufficient enough to cause flooding.  Poor drainage area and small streams are likely to flood first.  But Sunday and Sunday night, rises on main stem rivers may push some out of their banks to minor flooding levels.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.  Be alert for possible flood warnings to be issued.  Those living in area prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
