The other day, I asked you what you would do if you won the lottery. Jake, Scott, Richie and Casey also did stories on the lottery, in particular the New York Mega Millions jackpot. You have to admit, this is something a lot of people are talking about.

As we reach $500 million dollars for the jackpot, I’ll bet that you’re having even more thoughts about what you would do if you won. It may be more that amount when you get a chance to read this blog. We’re talking about a half billion dollars - $500,000,000,000. (More zeros than fingers) I can’t even imagine that amount of money. Even after you pay the taxes on the windfall and pay off your bills, you would still have an obscene amount of cash. I thought that I would share some of the things that I would do with the money if won. Actually, I think most of it is pretty typical.

1) Give some to my children and my wife’s children

We’d like to make sure they all got a good education. This would help pay for college.

2) Make sure our closest family members and friends were taken care of

It’s always very important.

3) Pay off the mortgage on the house

This would be really nice to not have to think about anymore.

4) Buy another house or twoo

We love Cape Cod, so that would make a great place for a summer home.

5) Donate to a few different charities

There are so many worthy causes, and most are right in the Albany area.

There is one mistake I know that I wouldn’t make- I’ve heard that some people do this when they come into money. These people go and buy great big houses or mansions. After they buy them, they don’t think about having to continue to pay taxes on them. Then they end up penniless with have big financial problems. Although with a half-billion dollars, that might not be a problem for anyone. Maybe you'll end up on the tv show 'Lottery Changed My Life.'

So how does my list compare to your list?
