The five second rule isn’t safe?  What?

How many times have you heard or said “well, five second rule” and watched someone eat the food they dropped?  Maybe you have even done it!  Well STOP!

It’s been studied and determined that you should not in fact eat food that has been dropped on the floor – no matter how clean the floor is!

Researchers from Rutgers University have debunked the “rule.”  They dropped watermelon, bread, bread with butter, and gummy candy on stainless steel, ceramic tile, wood, and carpet. Then they examined bacteria levels on the food, and for some of the items, contamination was instantaneous.

Well, I just don’t know what is what anymore – I mean if this isn’t true, can you no longer call “dibs” on your seat?  What about stepping on a crack, next thing you know they will tell me I won’t break my mothers back!   Geesh!

I would however like to be part of the team that studies these things!
