A Schodack dairy farm that’s been in Paul Peter’s family for 100 years lost some of the barns and about 20 cows in a fire on Friday. In a story on News 10 ABC, the fire happened about 12:30 p.m. at Peter’s Dairy Barn, on Brookview Avenue.

The Times Union’s story mentioned that there were firefighters from 12 departments, including the Castleton Fire Department,  on the scene trying to get a handle on the blaze, with their work being made more difficult with the wind and some issues getting water on the fire.

Neighbors and volunteers were on hand helping to move the surviving cows to other locations and farms. The fire, still being investigated, hasn’t been called suspicious.
