Additional Information

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS. As an Intergroup Chair, have you ever thought, "I wish I had an opportunity to share ideas and experiences with other Chairs while sharpening my own tool kit?" The Region Six Intergroup Outreach Committee ("IGOR") is presenting a workshop to do just that. The Intergroup Officers Training Workshop will convene Thursday evening through Friday, immediately preceding the Region Six Fall 2013 Assembly on Saturday, September 28. We will meet the evening of Thursday, September 26 from 7-9 PM and Friday, September 27 from 9-5 PM, gathering each of Region Six's Intergroup Chairs (or another designated Intergroup officer) from across Region Six to talk about improving, renewing, rebuilding, leading and, in particular, enhancing the mission of intergroups into more value-added organizations. The sessions will cover all the basic aspects of intergroup work, including information sources, formats, committees, targeted recruiting, communication, operating plans, and more. A key theme is that if intergroups become more effective at helping our individual members strengthen personal recovery, all aspects of OA are strengthened.  More people become attracted to intergroup because of its good work.  More personal recovery results in more sponsors and more service and therefore, a stronger and more vital OA. The facilitator, Don C., has  served as chair of five intergroups.  By the conclusion of the event on Friday evening, we hope that attendees will have a good definition of "What Makes a Strong Intergroup", as well as perhaps an action plan for their own intergroup. ________________________________________________________________WHO IS ELIGIBLE? This event is open only to duly elected/appointed currently serving Region Six Officers and targeted toward the Intergroup Chair, particularly those who are newer chairs or those currently serving intergroup officers who are considering becoming their intergroup's chair. If you are an R6 Intergroup Chair, you are immediately eligible to sign up and have the cost of lodging paid for (shared room only) for Thursday evening, September 26. If your intergroup elects to send another currently serving officer (Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary) you must confirm that you are indeed the officer who has specifically been chosen by your intergroup to participate. If you will be attending on a space-available, basis, R6 will provide this training to former intergroup officers who reside within REGION SIX ONLY. This workshop is of value only to those who have served as an elected officer beyond the group level and is not designed for the newcomer to OA.  Space-available participants are responsible for their own lodging.  All of the other requirements apply. ________________________________________________________________PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY REGARDING HOTEL LODGING ARRANGEMENTS AND REGISTRATION FOR REGION SIX ASSEMBLY. 1. Those who wish to have their Thursday night lodging paid for by Region Six will be required to share a room with another funded intergroup officer who is also participating in the Intergroup Officers Training Workshop. If your Thursday night lodging is being paid for by Region Six, DO NOT CONTACT THE HOTEL FOR ANY REASON.  The IGOR Committee will supply the hotel with a rooming list for Thursday night. 3. If for any reason, you elect to room with anyone other than another funded intergroup officer or wish to room alone, THERE WILL BE NO COVERING OF YOUR ROOM EXPENSES.  NO PRO RATA.4.
