An elderly nun that left the hospital after she was visiting some parishioners, was knocked to the ground and then had her purse stolen.

It happened around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, in the area of Chrisler Avenue and Vermont Avenue in Schenectady. Some of the neighbors in the area gave a description of the suspect to Schenectady Police. One of the neighbors even chased the suspect.

Another chase took place with police chasing the suspect through some backyards on Van Velsen Street. The chase ended when the police found the suspect, 17-year-old Shawaski Kirk, on a garage roof.

Kirk was taken into custody, but police found something else. Several items that had been reported stolen in the Mont Pleasant neighborhood were discovered that Kirk allegedly had in his possession. He was charged with multiple counts of Criminal Possession Of Stolen Property, Robbery In The Third Degree and Petit Larceny.

According to the story on News 10 ABC, on November 11, Kirk was previously arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession Of Stolen Property.
