Egypt Free After Richie’s Powerful Parody

This morning, Richie had us all laughing with his sentimental message to Hosni Mubarak.  In a classic smooth Jim Reeves style Richie changed the words to "He'll Have To Go" to "Mabarak Has To Go."  Well, he is going!

According to CNN:

Egypt is Free!  Hosni Mubarak has stepped down and has given power to the Military. 

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak resigned Friday, relinquishing power after three decades of iron-clad rule in the powerhouse nation of the Arab world.Vice President Omar Suleiman announced the resignation on state television and said he was transferring authority to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to "run the affairs of the country."

Tens of thousands of emotional anti-government protesters erupted in deafening cheers on the streets of Cairo after the announcement.

"Egypt is free!" they chanted.

Could Richie's song have inspired the change?  I doubt it, but I do think that Richie did a great job with this persuasive political message.   If you missed it, click here to enjoy the song again.
