On April 21 and 22, some of the Northeast’s top Country Line and Couples Dance instructors are taking part in the annual Country Dance Fest at Saratoga Music Hall.

Meet Duke and Dina Alexander (aka: The DoubleDees)

1. How did you get into Country Line Dancing?

16 years Ago  My Wife brought Me Kicking and Screaming , but after the very first time I never looked back cause I loved it so much. So we began with humble beginnings taking lessons in the dining hall in the back of the St.Johns Episcopal Church in Kingston , NY. After our Dance Instructors retired, We ended up teaching at that very same church we started at, since then have been busy on multiple nights.

We currently teach at Joe's East West in New Paltz , The Steel House and VFW 1386 in Kingston and at the Napanoch Fire House in Napanoch NY. One of the pleasures of dance that we enjoy are the people, and been mentors to some of our new local instructors Ashley Penik and Brandon Zahorshy, and have teamed up with Beradette Gill and participate in raising funds to Ship goods that go to Troops in Afghanistan or Military wounded warriors. It is great to see how country people can enjoy each other, and support people in need as well.

2. What are your favorite Country dance songs?

‘One Night At A Time’  by  George Strait is the first song we learned a couples dance to Lorrie's Dance  choreographed by Bill Williamson. ‘Country Down To My Soul’ by Lee Roy Parnell for the Dance Hot Tamales by  Neil Hale. As for some of the new country songs, Red Solo Cup by Toby Keith, Mr Goodtime by Colt Ford, and also Drink on it By Blake Shelton (in which we just wrote a Partners dance for Country Fest in Saratoga).

3. Why should people try Country Line Dancing?

Because of the Music, the People, the Fun, it's a wonderful combination and there is something for everyone. What you will find, it's more than just dance it's also about community.

4. How has Country Line Dancing changed your life?

Country Line Dancing  has open up an entire group of great people for us , that like to have fun to the   Greatest  Music in the world, Country.

5. Where is your favorite place in the world to go Country Dancing?

The Barn in Sanford, Florida. We have made some great friends there, they welcomed us like they knew us their whole lives. We have made some good friends down there!
