When they approached the car, they found the ‘new’ driver and they asked her about the switch. According to a press release from the East Greenbush Police Department, that’s when 31-year-old Jennifer M. Adams from Troy, denied the switch. She claimed that the officers were wrong, and she had been the driver the whole time. There was a suspicion of alcohol being involved, too. The officers gave the her a sobriety test which confirmed impairment. Jennifer was taken into custody for DWI.

The ‘new’ passenger, 30-year-old Donni P. Adams, also from Troy, was the one that the officers actually saw make the lane change violation. While he was being questioned about it, the officer detected alcohol impairment and was given a sobriety test. He was also then taken into custody for DWI.

It was during the booking that officers learned that Donni’s drivers license is currently revoked from a previous DWI conviction in Albany County. Because of this, his charges were changed to Felony DWI, Driving While Revoked and other charges. Donni Adams was arraigned in East Greenbush Town Court and sent to the Rensselaer County Jail, with bail set at $5,000. Jennifer adams received a ticket and released. She has a court date later this month.
