Country superstar Dolly Parton gave a surprise bigger than her hair to young actress Alyvia Lind on Monday (July 13), when she personally offered the youngster the role of Dolly (as a child) in the upcoming original movie about her life, Coat of Many Colors.

"I know you think you're here to talk to all these business people," Parton told the miniature goldilocks on a surprise visit during the Today Show, "But what we're really here to do is announce that you have been chosen to play little Dolly in the movie!"

The mini star's reaction is as cute as she is, with her golden curls bouncing with excitement upon hearing the news, as you can see in the video above. Parton says she felt a connection with the 7-year-old actress who would be portraying her early childhood.

“When you were doing your audition, I thought, ‘Oh my goodness, I wish I had been that pretty when I was little. I wish I had been that smart,’” Parton tells Lind. “But I really felt you.”

Coat of Many Colors, named after Parton’s song, will be based on Parton’s upbringing, with the Parton serving as executive producer. It is part of the deal Parton penned in January with NBC, who will develop several two-hour television movies based on Parton’s songs, stories and life. They will contain music, but won’t be musicals, with Parton possibly appearing in some.

The 1971 track tells the story of how Parton's mother stitched together a coat for her daughter out of rags given to the family, telling her the biblical story of Joseph and his Coat of Many Colors. But when the girl proudly debuts the new coat at school, she is ridiculed by her classmates for wearing rags. The original coat is now on display in Parton’s Chasing Rainbows Museum at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

There is no official release date for the movie, but if your anticipation is high to see some Dolly action, she will be playing at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on July 31 and August 1 in her first full Nashville performances in 12 years.
