Dierks Bentley loves surprises, and he dropped a bomb on unsuspecting Nashville fans on Monday (Nov. 14) via Instagram, revealing that he’d not only be playing a show that night, but it would be at a small bar called Legends on Music City's lower Broadway.

The artist admits was worried they might be getting out of touch with how to play music in a more intimate setting, having booked Bridgestone Arena this January.

“We’ll be playing some old school country, we love the 90s,” Bentley says, before getting distracted telling a band member he looks like someone from a band likes, perhaps teasing that he and his band may be performing as Hot Country Nights rather than under his superstar names.

Bentley's popup concert starts at 8PM on Nov. 14, with doors at 7. It’s sure to be a great show, but fans will have to get there early to squeeze in!

The star just released as a single the title track to his most recent album, Black. It's a sexy tribute to a special lady, even if it isn’t necessarily autobiographical. He says he actually didn’t intend for it to be as ... well, sexual, as it ended up being.

“I just started off writing a song, not with that in mind, but I just liked the idea of black and darkness and some passion involved there and it kind of spun out of control a little bit,” he says. “She calls BS on anything. If I play her anything she’s like, ‘You didn’t write that for me, you were just trying to write a love song.”

Either way, Bentley's own music isn’t exactly what works on Cassidy, he adds. “I’ve never used my own music to seduce my wife, that’s for sure."

Bentley performed his song “Different for Girls” from the same record alongside Elle King on the CMA Awards, also taking home the award for Vocal Event of the Year.
