Dennis Drue In Court Today For The Crash On I87 That Killed 2 Local Teens
Dennis Drue is expected in Saratoga County Court today. The hearing will establish whether certain statements and acts can be admitted to his upcoming trial. Drue is being charged in the Northway crash that killed Shenendehowa High School teens Christopher Stewart and Deana Rivers.
According to the indictment, tests revealed his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit at the time of that crash and that he was impaired by drugs. Prosecutors also say marijuana and drug paraphilia were both found in Drue's car.
Officials say an investigation revealed that Drue was operating his vehicle at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of all three lanes. Drue made contact with the rear of Stewart's Ford Explorer, causing both vehicles to crash.
Department of Motor Vehicles records indicate this is not the first time Drue has been involved in a traffic violation. Over the last 6 years, Drue was charged with speeding 13 times, along with other violations including Failure to Stop tickets and Cell Phone tickets. His License was also suspended 4 times.
