Yes, it's just a lousy snapshot through a fence.  And yes, it's nothing like I imagined it would be.  But it was still the President's aircraft, and it was a thrill, so I thought I'd throw this up here

I scooted on down to the Albany International Airport to see if I could catch a glimpse of POTUS' plane.  My wife said that I was wasting my time because I left the house at 3:30 p.m. and she saw on YNN that he was leaving at that time.  But out of stubbornness I jumped in the car, and out of loyalty she jumped in too.

Low and behold, it was literally taxiing slowly down the runway that was closest to Route 7, which was exactly where we were.  I jumped out of the car and stood next to a young kid who was standing in the pouring rain with his compact camera (typical of that age- no jacket on and wearing shorts) .  I grabbed my position next to him and took this shot through the wire fence.

Obama's plane

At first I wasn't sure that I had the right aircraft.  US Airways?  Knowing me I was probably photographing some regular  flight to Oshkosh or something.  But if you notice on the tail fin, it has "Old Glory" on it, so I guess we got it right.

Of course we waved like idiots.  I'm sure many of you would do the same thing.  I'm also sure that some of you would wave the "fickle finger of fate" at him as well.

Sorry guys, but I'm not about to get into politics here.  Maybe I'm old school, but it's still the President that we're talking about here, and he did make the effort to come here and see the progress being made in our area economically.  I think we can at least put ideologies aside and acknowledge the fact that he is acknowledging US.   Excuse me now while I jump gingerly off of my soapbox and go to bed.

(But if you'd like to see more on this, you can go to Jake Thomas' coverage.  He has video from the event.
