It likely comes as no surprise that Dale Earnhardt Jr. is once again the most popular driver in NASCAR racing.

Earnhardt Jr. had one of his best ever years of racing in NASCAR in 2014. He won 4 Sprint Cup Series races during the year and wound up 8th overall in the final driver point standings.

Earnhardt was named the 2014 recipient of the Sprint NMPA Most Popular Driver award during Friday night's season ending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series awards ceremony in Las Vegas. It is the 12th year in a row that he has won the award. He received a check for $10,000 that is earmarked for a charity of his choice.

The award is overseen by National Motorsports Press Association and is the only NASCAR award determined solely by fan vote. It has been presented every year since 1953.

Bill Elliott holds the record for receiving the most Most Popular Driver awards - winning the fan vote 16 times.
