It's always strange to me how restaurants, especially big restaurants like this, close out of nowhere. Well, all of a sudden today, one of Crossgates Mall's most famous restaurants announced they'll no longer be open.

You can't drive past Crossgates Mall without seeing the big sign for the Melting Pot and now, according to their Facebook page, after ten years they closed today. The reason given by the franchise was that "This closure was a business decision based on the economics associated with this franchise location."

So far, they have no plans to reopen this location but do offer The Melting Pot in White Plains, The Melting Pot in Westwood and The Melting Pot in Whippany as your nearest options if you're craving some fondue. No word on what will take over the space or if another Melting Pot will open elsewhere in the area but for now, that's the end of the Melting Pot in the Capital Region.
