The man accused of firing shots inside Crossgates Mall last month, pleaded not guilty today in the indictment hearing at Albany County Court.

Tasheem Maeweather was in Albany County Court today facing charges that include attempted murder stemming from the shooting incident that took place at Crossgates Mall on November 12th.  Maeweather pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to a story in the Times Union, Lee Kindlon, Meaweathers attorney claims Meaweather was simply buying sneakers when the altercation happened.  Eyewitness statements given to the grand jury dispute that claim saying Maeweather drew the gun and fired the shots after another man threw a punch at him.

The mall shooting last month caused panic throughout the capital region as the shooter was not immediately located.  Meaweather was arrested as the shooter two days after the incident took place.

The Assistant District Attorney said a plea bargain will not be offered to Maeweather.
