Question: Who headlined the first WGNA Countryfest?

Answer: The first Countryfest was held in 1994 at the Altamont Fairgrounds.  WGNA booked Travis Tritt as the first headliner with Joe Diffie and Lee Roy Parnell as the supporting act.  David Ball also warmed up the crowd with his hit 'Thinkin' Problem.'  Travis Tritt returned 10 years later to play Countryfest at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

At the time WGNA introduced the annual event, Travis Tritt was hot with hits like 'Country Club' 'T-R-O-U-B-L-E' 'Anymore' and 'Here's A Quarter.'  Meanwhile, Joe Diffie was a rising star with hits like 'Third Rock From The Sun' 'Pickup Man' and 'Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox.' Newcomer Lee Roy Parnell was also enjoying success with the hits 'What Kind Of Fool Do You Think I Am' and 'On The Road.'
