Country Stars Cancel SeaWorld Shows Due To Documentary
In November, I did a story about some people who were going to protest about a couple of SeaWorld floats at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. This is all because of a documentary called ‘Blackfish,’ which made accusations about how badly orca wales are treated at parks like SeaWorld. And now some country stars have joined the protests.
CNN and Eonline have reported that there’s a list of singers and bands that have dropped their concerts at SeaWorld, including Trisha Yearwood and Willie Nelson. Now there’s one more country singer are on that list - Martina McBride.
There was an online petition at Change.org requesting that Martina McBride cancel her scheduled performance at a March 2014 event called the Bands, Blues & BBQ at the amusement park. The petition had more than 20,000 signatures. She shared her decision on her Facebook page.
There was an article in Rolling Stone magazine where SeaWorld condemned ‘Blackfish’ as being “inaccurate and misleading.”
